Xavier Lower-Level Vinyl Plank Flooring
Posted by trance69m on August 22, 2022 at 7:55 pmMy first time on the site since subscribing. I would like your recommendations on where to start the vinyl plank flooring install. 7′ x 48″ vinyl plank. I would appreciate any other suggestions you might have. The vinyl will go in the entire basement except the bathroom, utility room and the area behind the double doors. The stairs and landings will also be vinyl.

Good afternoon Joe,
Thank you for the quick response to my email. I was unable to export the file as your video suggests as I have not subscribed to the software, only on the 7 day trial at this point.
I’ve attached several pics for you. Answers: I’m looking at installing N-S, the odd corner in the drawing is the landing and a small closet that holds the water meter.
I’ve attached a few pics of the area, I hope that the pics of the flooring are what you’re looking for.
Yes, the red areas are areas I will not be installing.
Also I will be installing the plank on the stairs and the landing-s.
I’ve got drywall work then painting first 🙂
I have used your instructional videos on a few jobs and I must say that you’ve been a big help! Thank you. Also as a believer I truly appreciate your sharing our Lord’s message.
Praise the Lord!

I would not subscribe to Smartdraw, only use the 7 day trial. I don’t like that it only allows a 1 year and not just a month to month.

Hello Joe,
I’ll try to attach a diagram of the basement floor with measurements along with a couple more pics.
The flooring is 7- 5/16″ wide. strange dimension but whatever.
In the drawing you see that the hallway is 36″ wide. Measuring from the center of the hall to about center of the bedroom doorway is 21-3/8″. Three pieces of flooring.
In the diagram I measured from the center of the hallway 20 pieces of flooring and chalked a line, 142.625 (142-5/8) and chalked a mark. This just happens to be 3 feet from the stairwell wall.
I measured three feet out from the stairwell wall farther down the wall and chalked another mark.
I then measured from this mark to the outside wall, 71-3/8″. This came out to be 10 pieces of flooring.
I checked how wide a piece would be left over when I end up at the other far wall in the bedroom, just about 100′ 3/8″ from the outside wall to where the piece lays in the bedroom doorways. Just about 14 pieces.
