    Hi Joe,

My installation is underway and I am running into frequent issues with planks wanting to elevate as in the attached photo or really having to work at getting the seams to fit tightly together. I am starting with the butt end of the plank followed by the long edge as you show in your video. I am using a luxury vinyl plank from Shaw. I have also attached a photo of the product I am using. I have used hardwood planks in the past, but they were not nearly as difficult to work with.

Thank you for any tips you can provide.

    Hi Joe,

I thought my installation was going well until we started inspecting all of the seams. It appears that some are very tight while others have very small gaps. I’ve included two photos one for the room overview and the other is a close-up view of one of the gaps on the butt end of the plank. Our concern is that this type of a gap might void the waterproof claim of the vinyl plank we purchased. What level of fit or “tightness” should I expect with this type of product and should I expect it on every seam on all sides of the plank?

    Thank you,

    Angus

For reference purposes, I measured some of the the gaps with a feeler gauge and they go up to roughly 0.012″ on the wider end of the scale down to seams so tight I cannot insert the gauge at all.
