  • Paying for floors – Mannington dealer

Hi @joeletendre , we’ve picked a Mannington laminate floor that we love. We’re working with a local authorized dealer. However they’ve asked for full payment in advance of ordering the floor, which should be available in about 6 weeks (it’s a new model that apparently begins manufacturing later in September). Is it normal in the industry to pay full in advance? I expecting to pay a deposit and then the balance upon delivery. Thanks for your advice! Steve

It is not normal, but also not unheard of. I would only put half down and then the other half once it is picked up or delivered. Every store is different with what they require and maybe this store has been burnt by customers that never came back.

If I were in your shoes, I would not pay for it in full and maybe consider ordering it from another dealer. They could be in financial trouble and are desperate for money coming in. I don’t know for sure and I am only speculating on this.

If you go to mannington’s website you can search their list of dealers near you.

Thanks Joe, I appreciate you sharing your insight. We’ll ask around a few other dealers in the area and see what they’re saying.

    Thanks!
