You are Awesome! Thank you so much! Subtle little things that will help me greatly. Using a plank to ensure the two next to it are straight. Duh! (Cue forehead slap!) I don’t know if perhaps the planks were slightly crooked, or if maybe I was lining them up wrong, but I also think I may be a tad too rough and trying to force them a bit instead of being a little more patient and careful. (Just call me Mogilla Gorilla!) Also, you mentioned not being able to see my chalk line. In the photo of the installed first few rows, which you correctly assumed, the chalk line is on the far-right side as you are looking at it. I should have taken a better picture so you could see it. After watching your video, I think we will just go ahead and install the few rows we will need to get the planks in contact with the wall and secure it that way. The good news is that after I uploaded these photos, my son came over and we re-did these strips and got everything to line up and lock in correctly. All of the material I purchased to secure the floor, (industrial glue gun and glue sticks you recommended) were all packed up after the fire. so, some of the tools I need are in a storage unit some 100 miles or so away… Alas, it is slowing us down some. But generally speaking, things are going smoothly otherwise. I have been maintaining about a 1/4″ gap at each end of the floor, and I’m wondering if that may be a bit much? I should still be able to cover everything with baseboards and quarter round if necessary. I talked with the contractor about transitions. He recommended using bull nose oak strips and staining them to match. He said if we buy the tracks and vinyl strips, they are prone to breaking. If I use oak transitions, a masonry bit and screw them in, they’ll last forever. What do you think? I hate that I even have to use them, but I don’t want to have to replace them every few years either… Thanks again for all of your expertise and willingness to get back so quick with helpful tips. It is a huge relief. This has become a massive job, and I’m glad that I can get it right so there’s less of a chance of problems developing later. You are greatly appreciated, Joe. More than you know! Thank you!
