Skillen Flooring Project
Hi Joe! I stumbled onto one of your videos after I had already purchased the bulk of my flooring and supplies. I had already watched a lot of videos and was ready to jump in, then I found your stuff. Great videos. You have no idea, (well, you probably do) how much you are helping me. I have attached the basic floor plan according to your instructions. It’s not the most accurate plan, but you get the idea of the layout from it. I have another compounding problem with this project. I have a cement slab, and there’s some cracks and unlevel spots I will need to address. I feel confident enough to tackle them, but I would definitely like to have a pro like you available to provide some guidance in case I end up over my head at some point like I’m bound to be… This will mostly be done by my son and I, with the help of my other son, daughter, wife and two daughter in laws as needed for things like leveling rooms where time is of the essence, etc. I watched all of your flooring reviews and as luck would have it, fortunately we picked an excellent quality product based on your recommendations that I watched after the fact. So we got lucky there. Unfortunately, I also purchased the plastic moisture barrier based on “essential” suggestions from other videos. Your explanation made so much sense though. So I will return that. But should I get quietwalk underlayment, or just go with the backing already built in? I will leave it here for now. I’m pretty much ready to start demo. I will have to work room to room as I will only be able to get help 1 or 2 days a week for the most part and the rest of the time it’s all me except for the few days where I will make plans with everyone if I really need their help for those things that one person just can’t do. My son will jump in and help as he can, but we both work at a place that doesn’t really give us the ability to take a week or 2 off to knock this out. So I’m just gonna get it going and go as hard as I can until I’m done. Thank you so much for your passion and willingness to do this, God bless!
