Where should we start?
Posted by benpettit160 on March 5, 2022 at 7:44 pmHello Joe!
My wife and I are installing LVL in our home and are not sure where to start. We laid out the flooring both going up/down and left/right direction and prefer the left/right. In order to do so, where would you recommend starting? Thank you in advance!

Hey Joe!
My last reply had the answers to your questions. This one I just wanted to send the other photos to give you a better idea what we are working with.
Again, thank you so much for your help. This is a big project, but we are so excited to get started and see it all done.
Please let me know if there is any other questions or concerns you may have.

Hey Joe! Thank you for getting back to us! Being our first home, Urszula and I are excited to take on this project and get the feeling of pride we get from doing this on our own! We greatly appreciate your help and guidance with this.
To answer your questions:
1. You are correct in how you drew the lines left to right. However we are not attached to that specific layout and are open to north to south if you recommend that being the better way.
2. The planks are 9”x72” and I have attached the pictures of the grooves for you to see
3. The floor is built on a concrete slab. All rooms except the master bedroom will have the LVP on top of existing 18×18 tile. Whereas the master bedroom originally had carpet in it where the previous owner just replaced with cheap vinyl plank which has resulted in a height difference from the bedroom to the hallway (so any suggestions on leveling the 1/2” gap would be appreciated)
4. The laundry room has a washer/dryer and sink. The small area next to it is the AC unit which is not getting the floors extended into it.
5. We are in a good spot right now as we have our guest room completely open without any furniture so that can be a place to move furniture while we work in another room.

I will get to this soon, I have a few in front of you. Thanks for the info.

Hey Joe! Thank you for getting back to me so quick! I am embarrassed. You are correct that the house layout is in reverse. I was so impressed with your initial video and excited with the hope you gave us to take on this project ourselves that I didn’t trace the right side of the floor plan for our model. I was going to trace via a mirrors look and ended up tracing the exact same thing. Whatever is easiest for you, I can base the blueprint off knowing that the floor plan is reversed, or we can reverse it and work the right flow. Thank you again for all your help.
Sincerely,
Ben
