Hi @joeletendre !!! It’s been a few months since we last connected. I have been busy remodeling my son’s new house. Just today I started the flooring. I asked my wife and son to buy the same brand of flooring that I had used at our house to make it easy on me for the install. Of course they didn’t do this :-0 so I am struggling a bit. He flooring is Jetcore XL by Homestead. It claims to feature the Uniclic technology for “easy” angle-angle installation. It’s not easy from my perspective. From the video that I watched using the QR code on the package, you are supposed to do this for your second row…

    1) Lift the second plank at an angle to insert it into the tongue end of the first plank. Planks will be flush fitting. This step is easy as you call see in photo “1-Joe” below

    2) Lift the second plank with the first plank together to pull the second plank into the first row to be flush fitting with the first row. This does not work for me. Reference photo “2-Joe” below

I cannot eliminate the long gap between the new plank and the first row as you can see in the picture below. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? If this is poor flooring, please tell me this as well as I will ask my wife to return for a refund. Thanks, Joe!

Thank you, @joeletendre !!! I don’t recall watching that video, so this was perfect for me to see. I have all the tools that you are using since I purchased those based on your recommendation when I was doing my first flooring project. I’m going back to my son’s house now to try out your tips. I’ll keep you posted!

@joeletendre The video you shared was a HUGE help, Joe. Well on my way to nearly finishing my son’s new floor. The funny thing to me was that for this type of floor installation I’m using all of the tools that you recommend in your videos. I did not have to use some of them like the heavy block with my NUCOR floor install in my home and a couple other tools. I kinda wandered if I should return them but I did not. The floor that I am installing in my son’s house uses a locking system exactly the same as your son in law demonstrates in the video. ALL the tools you recommended I am now using and getting great results! Thanks again, Joe!

I like this pattern what is the name of it? Happy with the Nucor? Just started looking and am a bit overwhelmed by the number of LVP choices.

Hi Jeff, I agree that there are many LVP choices out there. My flooring experience has been limited to two projects. NUCOR was the floor that my wife purchased for our home. Installation was easy once I watched Joe’s videos and purchased the tools he recommended. Now that the floor has been installed for about four months, I’m beginning to see some issues. Not huge problems to fix, but issues like a creak noise where 2 planks meet. The floor I just installed at my son’s house is what you see in these pictures. This is HOMESTEAD brand floor. The model is called Jetcore XL. My son bought this at a placed called the Home Outlet. At first I thought it was junk because there is no information online that I could find for Homestead. Even the QRG code on the new floor box itself points you to an installation video from a different manufacturer! But I quickly found some good news with this floor. It’s design uses the trademark UNICLIC system for how each board interlocks. That is very different than the board lock from NUCOR. UNICLIC boards need to be forced together using a block. When I installed the first boards, this UNICLIC design gave me much higher confidence that this floor will have far less issues in the long run vs NUCOR. Another point to consider: About 15% of my NUCOR planks were damaged when I removed them from the box. Many were missing chunks of cork on the back of the board. The Homestead flooring had ZERO defective boards. So the bottom line for me is this: For my next flooring project I will select a brand that uses the UNICLIC locking system. UNICLIC is used by many manufacturers out there so I’ll still have many choices. Good luck with your project!

Thanks, for the info, I think I used Uniclik 20 yrs ago when I put a laminate floor in my office at work. I guess I need to find a color and pattern my wife likes then narrow down the choices!
