First of all, thank you Joe for sharing your knowledge and creating this platform. So I’m planning on replacing the whole main floor (~1500sqft, including bathroom, kitchen and laundry) to LVP (SPC). The product I’ve selected is Shaw Endura Plus (4.8mm overall thickness with pad). Since the carpet area is lower than the sheet vinyl area (green area on the floor plan), I’m planning to install 1/5″ underlayment (most readily available in my area) on the whole floor after prying everything up to avoid door & door jamb gaps. However, that would still leave 3mm gap from the floor to current baseboard height. Would that be acceptable? Or it’s better if I lower the baseboards and caulk on top to cover the gap?

As to where to start, I’m thinking of starting from the top left corner of the floor plan. But there isn’t an actual hallway in the house so I’m not sure where to snap lines. It’d be appreciated if you could guide me through this project.

    Thank you very much.

Another question to ask. How long and how many of the staples I’d need to secure the underlayment?

    Thanks.

Good morning, thank you for your quick response.

Yes I’ll remove all baseboards before ripping everything out and reinstall them after the floor is done. And caulk between the baseboard and the walls. And I plan to do LVP East & South on the whole floor, including the darken area (which is currently vinyl sheet). Should I still start in that room in this case?

And at where the LVP meets the carpet stairs, do I need to add end cap or quarter round? Or I can just leave it?

      Thanks.
