So, my laminate has a very thin foam pad molded on the bottom. The foam is half the thickness of a standard pad. Would it be okay to put down a standard foam pad as well, or will this put too much stress on the joints?

    Joe,

The foam molded to the flooring is about .06″ (1.5mm) thick. Similar to the thickness of a quarter. The foam I want to use is about .08″ (2mm) thick. To me, I think this should be fine, but what is your opinion?

    Kind Regards,

    Warren Lange

I think you will be good to go. I would just be sure whatever else you are using is not foam and it is similar to the material that quiet walk is made of. You are not looking for cushion, you are looking for a solid feel to the floor that is sound deadening.
