    Looks great!! Only mix what you need and you can add more water than what they say. You could do a skim coat first, but you can also add smaller amounts when building it up.

    Hi Joe, Hope all is well. Installing a slate fireplace surround. All 1/2″ thick slate using James hardie cement board for under the hearth. Can I use feather finish on the seam? The hearth is one piece of slate 20″X72″ which would be two 36″X20″ pieces of cement board with one seam in the middle. Using F-26 construction adhesive to hold the pieces onto the cement board on floor and drywall on walls. 2 legs 8″X36″ and the header 12″X58″ resting on top of the hearth. My plan was to mount the legs against the drywall and let them dry and then set the header on top. Legs and header will be set edge to edge against the wall. Any suggestions or tips? How do I hold the pieces against the wall while they dry? Thanks for all of your help.
