    Hey Joe,

Been watching a lot of your videos and decided to join. I’ve attached my blueprint using the software youve mentioned.

Split level home, all light comes in on the N/S sides. No real crazy corners or angles. Everything is being ripped up down to the subfloor and will put the LVP throughout the entire house, with zero transitions or changes. With the fireplace, I’ve gotten a diamond blade to allow for the floor to run right underneath as you did in one of your videos, and each vanity/toilet will be removed to allow me to just lay everything down.

My plan was once I have the starting location based on your recommendation, to tackle this one room at a time per day, depending on how it goes. My question is, is it okay for me to start it, then leave it for the next day or would that cause any movement? I plan on doing the cheater boards and screwing down the scrap pieces in place of the space gap pieces.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

    Dave

Hey Joe heres the info you needed:

Direction: The planks currently run N/S, however this has them going perpendicular down the long hallway. I’m okay with doing whatever makes sense. I’m also okay with starting wherever makes the most sense.

Subfloor: Main floor is on wood subfloor, bottom of split level is on concrete

T/G: If youre looking at the plank longways the groove is on the bottom and left, the tongue is on the top and the right.

If I’ve missed anything feel free to let me know.

my mistake Joe, the tongue is on the bottom with the groove being on the left side. Heres a link to the flooring.

      Answers:

Closet in the lower right bedroom is the top right cutout

Lower left bedroom closet is the cutout in the top left of the room, bedroom at the top of the page, the closet is bump out on the south end of the bedroom.

Hall closets have carpet, which I am keeping in there, so the planks will just run through the hall into the bedrooms and other rooms

Small island in kitchen attached to the wall, facing N/S

Planks: Top floor E/W, working backwards in bottom two bedrooms : Lower floor, running N/S as you suggested.

Hey Joe, I finally got everything done. I had some help with the upstairs, but once I did the downstairs, it gave me a lot of familiarity with doing upstairs. Now I had to remove the entire railing that I attached pictures of and now need to reattach it, and need to see what the best way to secure it to the floor would be. Its a 1×8 piece of wood that the railing and post are sitting on, which is how it was done previously, then screwed to the floor. Can I just adhere it with adhesive or is there a specific nail/screw I should use?

The 1×8 plate? Can you share pics please?

It’s just a 1×8 piece of wood that was on there before as in the above pictures from the old railing

I am just not sure how your post was mounted. Was there any special hardware that you had to remove? Are you a facebook user? I ask because in the private group there are alot of good carpenters that would be better to help with this than me.

The post was mounted to the end of the 1×8 and the 1×8 was screwed and nailed into the laminate planks that were there previously, so it was one piece altogether that they had done. Is it safe to screw into vinyl planks?

I’m not on FB but can make a profile and join the group
