Hi Joe! Hope all is well. Attached is my (not exactly to scale) floor plan where I’ll soon be installing 9×72 angle-tap click LVP. I have no preference as to which direction the LVP is laid. I’m installing throughout except where marked n/a. I have a few initial questions, but please let me know what else you might need from me to get started. Thanks SO much!

    Q’s:

    – I’m installing over older oak flooring in very good condition. As solid as it is, my home was built in the 1930’s and I don’t expect it will be perfectly level throughout, but the LVP does have a built-in underlayment (1.5mm IXPE). It’s also not going to be possible to run perpendicular, as my original flooring is laid with a decorative border pattern in all rooms. Would additional underlayment be advised, or do I run the risk of feeling springy when walking?

    – I live in a very dry climate with central heating and air – With this in mind, what, if any, expansion gap do you recommend?

    – What distance apart do you recommend the planks are laid? I’m assuming it depends on the plank width?s

Joe, thanks so much for this! If I’m understanding correctly, it sounds easiest to run the planks North to South. If so I’m fine basing the blueprint off that configuration. I’ll check out the underlayment you mentioned at Floor & Decor this week.

I will be doing the dining room, ending where the tile starts (now marked in red) Baths won’t be done either. I also attached a stock photo of the tongue & groove. Let me know if you need a different angle and I’ll take a pic of the samples I have.

And no rush on the blueprint – I’ll be on a business trip until Sunday evening.
