Blueprint request
Posted by ashribes on January 22, 2023 at 4:23 pmHi Joe, Thanks for your help.
1. What is the most astetically pleasing way to lay my LVP since both my kitchen and living room at very long but run perpendicular to my short hallway.
2. Blueprint request (there are two small walls that I could not get to draw in the picture. both lead t to the cased. One runs along the stairs to the opening the other is from the powder room door to the cased opening)
3. Where to start/process to prevent transitions?

Thanks so much. I’ll answer in the questions in parts.
1. I think E/W direction is my preferred.
2. Attached are pics of the basement door and hallway.
3. My cabinets won’t be installed until Friday.
4. The cased opening has a 9.5 inch wall on each side. (the pic with the shoe rack
5. The contractor put a .75 in plywood boards throughout.
6. To the right of the basement door is a living room. It steps down, 1 step and is going to remain carpet for now. I’ll send a pic of that opening later.

Have you asked them if they offer a stair nose with this product?

I’ve ordered a few options that are close matches from Lowes and HD b/c LL didn’t have any options.
I’m hoping to start the floor this weekend.

Totally forgot that I am going to be putting down Pergo underlayment since my planks do not have that attached already. Does that change any of the directions. I would assume no. But wanted to double check.
I’ve really started to dig into your videos and put my hands on the planks to get a feel. I feel my confidence growing. 🙂 Not over confident, but feeling like I CAN do this. Thanks for all your help to date!

The pad does not change anything!! You got this my friend!

Prego underlayment is down. CHECK!
Since its kind of slippery, I don’t feel like a chalk line will stay. In my head, I’m thinking:
1. Lay the chalk line
2. Find a straight edge, like a piece of plank
3. Trace the chalk like with sharpie marker.
Do you think that will work? Or do you have other thoughts?

Hi Joe I this round first stair tread. Thoughts on the easier way to work around it? feel free to point me to a video. I thought I saw one about curves but can’t find it now.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I’m into the closet now. Working the big room and then hall way to the powder room. I have to prior to the powder room b/c the contractor isn’t done with the sub floor.
