Good morning, Joe! I hope you are starting to feel a little better. Just so you know, I am doing this project by myself, so will not be moving fast 🙂 Take the time you need to heal.
Answers to your questions
Upper part starting point: right at the step that I will be extending.
Lower part starting point: I was thinking to start at the front door (just before the angled step). I think then I would have a very little area in the bathroom and again in front of the extended step, to work backwards. What are your thoughts on that? Any pros or cons? If you don’t recommend that starting point. My 2nd thought would be to start at the extended steps. This would have me work backwards in the front entry and bathroom.
I have attached the pictures you requested, of the steps.
Stair nose: I did look on the flooret site and they have an overlapping stair nose that matches my plank. I think I will order that, to be used along the top row of each set of steps. Would I use the same nosing for the 2nd step (on both sets of steps)? Or which trim type should I order for the 2nd step?
When I ripped up the carpet, I found this metal plate that anchors the post. It is raised a bit. I would like your thoughts on how I might handle that. I am sure I will find more surprises as I remove the existing floors.
