    As for removing the tile, it will be more work, but I think it’s the right decision to ensure a proper installation. I don’t think it’s worth it to try and just do floor prep on tile that’s probably not level. For your awareness, there are other areas in the house where there is all tile (no gaps of bare cement like in the photo) and there is still some plank cracking. Ultimately, I think going down to the slab, doing proper floor prep, and laying something like Quiet Walk LV would be the best option, if you agree

    As for plank direction, my wife and I are truly indifferent and just want to do what would be easiest. So if that means running east to west then that’s what we’ll do. I initially wanted to start in the master bedroom but am open to the idea of starting in the dining/living room if you think that makes more sense.
