  Fireplace question

  Hi Joe,

  We are covering parquet with 5 mm underlayment. Next to the fireplace should we just butt up the underlayment and then cut a groove with the grinder when it’s time to get to the actual flooring? Or do we undercut for the underlayment too? The mortar is pretty chipped up in places.

  I will be repairing the cracked mortar.

  You can just butt up the underlayment and undercut after.
