Grant’s Floor Plan
Looking for guidance on where to start and how to continue the layout thought the house without transitions. I’m using Mohawk SolidTech Select – Discovery Ridge. Flooring will go throughout the whole house minus the Mudd room.

I appreciate your response and here are the answers to your questions with pics.
1. Wood subfloor.
2. The chimney is brick so no flooring needed there.
3. The “Garage area” is a bedroom (Garage conversion), NE corner. All the flooring is being stored here so ideally we go with a plan that touches this room last.
4. Based on your conversation the direction of the flooring seems easiest if we start in the NW bedroom with board length running N and south, seems to be the least working backwards. Although I think running the boards East to West would look better when you enter the house. One thing that might help determine direction is the answer to this question: How hard is it to work backwards under the foot kickout of kitchen cabinets, since you would have decreased access because of the overhang? Is it still doable?

Update: After talking with my wife she wants me to removed the chimney. It’s damaged and unusable. I don’t think this will change the long term floor layout plans. When I go to install i’ll probably stop at the entrance of the laundry room until the chimney is removed in a few months. Not idea but it is what it is.

Ok…Updates and answers to questions:
1. Flooring will go across the entire laundry room. Flooring will go under water heater and chimney has been removed. Patching subfloor this week.
2. There is a slight problem with the transition from the laundry room to the large NE bedroom. The subfloor floor in that bedroom (a garage conversion) is lower by the exact height of the current laminate that is installed. I would like to keep the old laminate only in that room as a spacer/filler so the floors are all the same heights. I would lay the new flooring on top of it. Concerns? Bad idea?
4. I’ll need to start the project in the the front room. The reason is the front room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room (almost) are ready to go. Wife is talking about some possible adjustments in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Bathroom walls would stay the same but possible adjustments to bathtubs and vanities.I’ll just put parcial pieces down in those areas to protect flooring where needed until ready to complete.
5. I think we’ll install flooring running board length N to S.

Ok, yea, you make some good points. I won’t start in the front room. Let’s make the blue print starting the project in the master bedroom. I’ll just delay laying the floors until ALL the remodel is done so I can do the floors all at once. Trying to live in a house while remodeling is definitely its own challenge.
The old laminate in the garage bedroom is 3/8”. I would welcome any recommendations for raising the floors just 3/8”. Thx

Grant, can you share a pic of the height difference in the garage? Also, is it concrete under the laminate? I know it is obviously concrete because it was a garage, I am just wondering if wood was added at some point.
